Sauna Action

According to the Self-Determination Act, operators of women’s saunas can deny access to trans women. SBSG protested against this in front of the Bundestag with a mobile sauna for 16 people  (taz article here, pictures here). Representatives of various parties were invited for a conversation in the sauna. Anke Hennig and Falko Droßmann, the queer political representatives of the SPD showed up but did not take up the offer to sweat together. However, they were quite willing to talk and accepted the Self-Determination Law 2.0 in a friendly manner. Kathrin Vogler and Daniel Bache, the queer political representatives of the Left Party, on the other hand, took up the offer and discussed with SBSG directly in the sauna. Unfortunately, representatives of the Greens and the FDP did not accept the invitation. Bruno Hönel from the B90/Greens did, however, extend an invitation to SBSG, which we gladly accepted. Journalists from Welt, taz, Radio 1 and queer.de were present. In the meantime, the story of the sauna in front of the Bundestag has made the rounds and continues to serve as an example of successful trans activism.
